  • 1Arrive in Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to hotel.On arrival at Kathmandu international airport you will be well received by Reasonable Treks & Tour staff and guide and then transfer you to your hotels within the hub of Kathmandu city around the most happening and exciting place around Thamel. Evening after checking into your rooms with refreshment our guides will brief regarding Makalu Base Camp Trekking with welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepalese restaurant with culture show.
  • 2 In Kathmandu sightseeing tour at places of interest and trek preparation.Morning after breakfast leave for our exciting cultural and historical tour around Nepal’s best World Heritage Sites which includes old Durbar Square (Palace Courtyard), Old Swayambhunath Stupa and other places of interest with time for trip preparations.

  • 4 Drive to Num 1,490 m - 04 hrs with afternoon free to explore.From Tumlingtar starting the morning with a scenic interesting drive heading to the mid hills passing many farm villages and the large town of Khandbari, drive continues on the hill ridge rough dirt road leading higher to Chinchela village from here a long descend to Num village slowly turning into a town with the motor reaching this village few years back, at Num overnight in lodge or in tents with grand views of surrounding landscapes and peaks of Jalajala Himal and Makalu.
  • 5Trek to Seduwa 1,540 m- 05 hrs.Today our first day walk starts with downhill and up to Seduwa village, a steep descend to the bridge over raging Arun River around this place quite tropical, and then with a climb towards farm fields and small villages of Runmura, here with lunch break and then with a gradual climb to reach overnight stop at Seduwa village, a small place with primary school and small health post with views of Num across the ridge and of other adjoining hills of Bhojpur and Jalajala rocky peaks.
  • 6 Trek to Tashi Gaon 2,135m - 04 hours.After Seduwa village, morning walk on undulating winding trail to Tashigaon a Sherpa village, the last village before Makalu base camp, walk leads through farm areas with nice terraces of millet, a major crops after rice and wheat’s of this area, and then for 3-4 hours of good trek reaching at Tashigaon for lunch and overnight camp with time to visit the local village around, which is quite interesting. The Sherpa of this area is quite different to Khumbu highlanders.
  • 7 Trek to Kongma Danda 3,556 m - 05 hoursLeaving Tashi Gaon the last village for a week long, morning walk leads on gentle path into thick forest of rhododendron, oaks and tall pines trees passing many cattle herder’s temporary shelters of shades and stone huts after few hours of pleasant walk stopping for lunch on the grassy meadow and summer pasture ground. afternoon walk with steep climb for few hours to reach Konngma ridge top, as the tall trees gives away for smaller rhododendron and juniper bushes and small birch trees.
    This high ridge offers excellent views of Kanchenjunga mountain range and of Mt. Makalu with adjoining peaks, from here in complete wilderness.
  • 8Trek to Mumbuk 3,553 m - 06 hoursAfter Kongma Danda morning walk on a ridge line following a gradual path with few ups and down reaching at icy ponds of Thulo Pokhari (big) with Sano Pokhari(small) after crossing Tutu-la and Shipton la at above 4, 453 meters passes, and then downhill back into forest with views of Khumbakarna Himal range of mountains towards north, overnight camp on a level ground in the middle of tall trees.
  • 9 Trek to Mumbuk 3,553 m - 06 hoursToday walks leads to scenic Barun valley famous for rare species of vegetation- plants and herbs including wild-life, starting the morning with down-hill for an hour and crossing a small stream to reach Barun valley, walk with gentle up views of peaks on both side of the valley passing few Sheppard’s shelters with a small Buddhist Gompa (monastery), after a pleasant walk of 5 hours reaching at Nehe Kharka for overnight camp around Barun valley.
  • 10 Trek to Shersong 4, 572 m - 05 hours.From Barun valley walk to Shersong leading at the end valley near Makalu base camp leading on gentle uphill crossing streams with great views of Mt. Makalu and Baruntse peaks, after a nice walk of 5 hours reaching at our destination at Sherson for two nights camps.
  • 11At Shersong for short hike above hills and view-points.Rest and acclimatization day to soak with the views of Mt. Makalu, Baruntse peaks with peak IV, morning an optional hike for excellent views of Mt. Everest with rare East Face known as Kanshung face with Lhotse.
  • 12Trek to Yangle Kharka 3, 598 m - 06 hours.Retrace the journey back on the Barun valley to Yangle Kharka enclosed within high rocky cliffs with views of cascading waterfalls after a descend reaching the overnight camp at cow herders temporary summer grazing place at Yangle-Kharka.
  • 13Trek to Mumbuk - 05 hours.After a wonderful time at Barun valley, walk leads past the valley with a climb to reach back into thick woodland at Mumbuk for overnight camp.
  • 14Trek to Kongma Ridge - 05 hours.On the same trail back to Khoma ridge morning walk with a climb for an hour or more through forest on reaching the hill top ridge leaving the tree lines, and passing the ponds and over Tutu la and Shipton la reaching at Kongma hill top for overnight camp.
  • 15 Trek to Narbu Gaon 1,310 m via Tashi Gaon - 05 hours.Morning walk on downhill path back into forest of tall tree lines to reach villages and farm fields, on reaching at Tashi Gaon taking a different higher route to Nawa or Narbu gaon village, through cool shade of woodlands and farm terraces and then reaching a large Sherpa village of Narbu Gaon on for overnight stop, with afternoon free to explore this nice farm village.
  • 16 Trek to Num via Seduwa - 05 hours.From Narbu Gaon our last day walk of this wonderful adventure leading downhill with few short up to Seduwa village, after a rest here continue descend on a steep path to Arun River, after crossing a bridge a steep climb for few hours to reach at Num village for last overnight around the high hills of Makalu.
  • 17 Drive back to Tumlingtar - 04 hrs.After a wonderful time on the high hills and mountains with farm villages, from Num taking an exciting drive on the rough road passing past villages with beautiful views of surrounding green hills and peaks, after few hours of drive reaching at Khadbari, a major town and headquarter of Sanka Sabha district of Makalu region. From here an hour downhill back to Tumlingtar in the comfort of a nice lodge
  • 18 Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.Farwell to most of our staff and porters and then taking a smaller airplane for short flight to Kathmandu with super views of Himalayan mountains during on this 40 mins flight, reaching Kathmandu transfer to your hotels.

Hotel and Accommodation on Makalu Base Camp Trek

While in Kathmandu  at 3 star Hotels (Attached Bath Room A/c,24 hours running hot and cold shower while you are Makalu Base Camp Trek  Day Beging Breakfast at  Lodge teahouse Thy are clean and comfortable bed and the rooms are basic, normally just a bed with a pillow and blankets .every day 3-4 hours trekking and break for lunchtime, after a relaxing lunch, you typically spend around 2-3 hours or even more sometimes on the trail before reaching your stopping point teahouse .

Transports used on Makalu Base Camp Trek

 Reasonable Treks And Tour Will Provide Private Vehicles and tourist bus for The Airport transfer, Kathmandu sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and flight Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and return back to Kathmandu.

Meals and Drinks On  Makalu Base Camp Trek

The meals are included in our package of the Makalu Base Camp Trek  and They are taken in lodges, we will have brekfaft and dinner at the lodge where we stay overnight and our guide will choose and stop For lunch on trek and we recommend you to bring water purification pills since you will have normal water for free, then you can have the normal water and use the medicine and drink however you have options of buying bottled water or boiled water in every places as well. There will also be farewell dinners for guests in Kathmandu.

Electricity and battery charges on Makalu Base Camp Trek

There are electricity available in some of the villages on our  Makalu Base Camp Trek  where you can re- charges your camera, batteries,m obile Phone  and there is solar power in some villages. we trek through and you can recharges your batteries camera mobile Phone in those places as well if they have enough power and we suggest you to have spare batteries as well and you will have to pay some for recharging batteries.on Makalu Base Camp Trek.

Luggage/Bag pack on Makalu Base Camp Trek

Your main luggage will be carried by porters on Makalu Base Camp Trek And you simply carry a day pack with water bottle, camera, sun-screen, spare jacket, and etc, during the trek, as small loads allows you for full enjoyment of the trek. A trek bag is ideal for your main luggage, plus a small lockable bag for travel clothes or anything that you do not need during trek which you can leave at hotel’s locker room/safe deposit box in Kathmandu for free of charge.

Guide and Porter on  Makalu Base Camp Trek

We provide trained trekking guide (handles the logistics and guides you and your team on the trek) and porters, one porter for each 2 trekkers and a  porter carry about 20 Kg and if there are more than 10 people in the group then we will provide you the traditional guide for the group.

Group size, guide and crew member

Reasonable Treks And Tour organize Makalu Base Camp Trek  for single people to maximum 13 people at once or even if you have more than 13 people then we can split the group in to two or more groups (according to the number of trekkers) however you all can walk together and stay at same guest house and there are only different guide, and there are 1 guide up to 9 people and 2 guide for 10-13 people and One  porter for each 2 Trekkers.

Personal expenses on Makalu Base Camp Trek

Personal expenses depend largely on your habit and as the meals are included on our Makalu Base Camp Trek cost, so you only need money for table drinks (alcoholic/non Alcoholic beverages), snacks while walking (some smaller shops are available along the trail in the areas), tips, souvenirs, hot shower (available in some places), and Meals ( A meal cost 5-7USD in Kathmandu) for your Kathmandu stay, entrance fees ( approx: 25USD) while your tour in Kathmandu, if you Do not drink alcohol and sopping then 12-15USD per day should be enough for the hot drinks, shower and snacks on trek and Tips are appreciated by your support Team after the trek. The amount depends on your budget and appreciation of their work. As a suggestion, we advise you to allocate 15 - 20% of the total tour cost as Tips to the staff and you can do this if you feel the services have been good.

It's not necessary to spend a lot of money buying equipment for the  Makalu Base Camp Trek  in your country as Majority of these gears can be bought at Reasonable Cost in Kathmandu.

Best Time to Trek Makalu Base Camp

The best time to trek to the Makalu Base Camp Trek  is spring March, April, May and autumn August, September, October, November. The temperature is moderate in these seasons and guarantees amazing views through the trip. Although this trek can be undertaken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.

Insurance/Rescue/Evacuation

In case of a serious sickness or a casualty while you are on Makalu Base Camp Trek   (which we believe will not happen), we will do everything to transfer you to the Nearest hospital to save your life (this has happened to us few times) and you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred in evacuation/rescue, so, please make Sure that these expenses are covered by your insurance policy before assigning for the trek or be prepared to pay on your own after getting back to Kathmandu. Booking and payment

After going through our policy and guidelines before booking a trip, you must send Reasonable Treks And Tour  a form with all and full details of your passport and of the trip chosen with 30 % as the non-refundable amount from the chosen trip.  on receiving the details of your passport with scanned or photo-copy, along with booking forms, and then the company will send you a confirmation with a receipt of the deposit made.  Regarding direct deposit to our bank accounts and as well for Credit Card payment which we accept Visa or Master Card with extra 04 % levy surcharge will be added on the trip cost payment. We strongly suggest that you obtain Travel and Medical insurance against unforeseen circumstances and situation that might arise during your trips which should include Immediate rescue and evacuation by any means of transportation including by Helicopter to nearest hospitals medical centers.
