Dhaulagiri Expedition, a fabulous adventure on top world's seventh highest mountain at the height of 8,167 m / 26, 951 ft stands with grace and beauty, one of the toughest mountains to tackle due to its remoteness within isolated region. mt. Dhaulagiri Expedition where trek leads you to complete wilderness of moraine-ice and glaciers for few days, after walking past lush vegetation and dense forest of rhododendron-oaks-pines and fir tree lines. An amazing walk to reach its base camp at the height of 4,750 m, on crossing remorseless fields of a huge boulder of ice and snow with dramatic views of mountains that extends from Mygdi areas towards Mustang and Dolpo region. mt. Dhaulagiri with its massive range of satellite peaks that extends within Mid West to Far Western Himalaya, where most of the climbing is taken from North-Western side one of the accessible route for mountaineers than other routes to the summit of Mt. Dhaulagiri.
Dhaulagiri Expedition leads you from Kathmandu to scenic Pokhara city and its beautiful green valley surrounded by hills and snow-capped mountains that reflect on its calm lakes of Phewa and Begnas.drive continues further west past Beni town to follow Mygdi River right up to its source at Dhaulagiri base camp, as walking begins through low areas of paddy fields and terraces around farm village inhabited by Magar hill tribe of Nepal. soon leaving the village behind in the total wilderness for many weeks entering into alpine cooler zone of beautiful woodland and then heading high on leaving the green vegetation for rocks-moraine and ice of arctic zone at base camp, to conquer world 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri. we have reserved enough days for acclimatization and practice climb and then ferrying loads to designated higher camps for the successful climb to the summit of Mt. Dhaulagiri and then heading back on crossing French-Thapa / Dhampus to reach Mustang areas in Marpha village. from Marpha a short drive to Jomsom town for scenic short flight Pokhara where our adventure completes with mind-blowing experience on Mt. Dhaulagiri Expedition.

Itinerary

  • 1Arrive in Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to hotel. On arrival at Kathmandu international airport you will be well received by Reasonable Treks & Tour staff and guide and then transfer you to your hotels within the hub of Kathmandu city around the most happening and exciting place around Thamel. Evening after checking into your rooms with refreshment our guides will brief regarding Mt. Dhaulagiri Expeditions with welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepalese restaurant with culture show.
  • 2In Kathmandu sightseeing tour at places of interest and preparationMorning after breakfast leave for our exciting cultural and historical tour around Nepal's best World Heritage Sites which includes old Durbar Square (Palace Courtyard), Old Swayambhunath Stupa and other places of interest with time for trip preparations.
  • 3in kathmandu sightseeing Hafe day sightseeing and relax where our guide and leader will obtain necessary permits and with final preparation for next day expedition.
  • 4Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m (30 mins flight and 6 hrs drive)Starting our fabulous adventure to Mt. Dhaulagiri Trekking and expedition, taking a morning drive towards Nepal Mid West with grand views of Ganesh-Langtang Himal, as the drive gets closer towards Pokhara catch the views of Manaslu and Annapurna Himalaya with majestic Mt. Machhapuchare known as Fish Tail due to its shape. after exciting scenic drive reaching at Pokhara a famous and popular touristic spot of Nepal Himalaya, blessed with natural wonders of snow capped peaks, rolling green hills and valley with serene lakes, in Pokhara overnight by the Phewa Lake with ample time for short walks around the lake.(Options by Air taking half hour of scenic flight to land at Pokhara from Kathmandu)
  • 5Drive to Darbang via Beni 900 m - 06 hrs. After a wonderful stop in scenic Pokhara, morning drive continues for next few hours to reach Beni town to begin this awesome adventure beyond Dhaulagiri base camp with Hidden valley.
    Beni a large town and headquarter of Dhaulagiri and Mygdi district from here few hours’ drive brings at Darbang to starting point of our adventurous trek, overnight in best available local lodge and hotels.
  • 6Trek to Riverside 1,560 m - 04 hrs.Starting first day walk of this adventure with a climb towards a small ridge passing several farm area and villages and then the walk is gradual walking along the bank of river Mygdi, after a pleasant day walk reaching to camp by the bank of the river for overnight stop, after noon at leisure for a cool splash in the river and short walk around this least visited area.
  • 7Trek to Bagar 2,375m - 06 hrs. Morning walk follows river for a while reaching a small rural farm village of Jugepani, for lunch time permitting after 3 hours of nice walks, after a break here a steep climb to a ridge for an hour reaching a ridge and then downhill through forest to Bagar, a small farm village overnight camp by the school yard, this will be the last village or human settlement for a week till it joins at popular Annapurna circuit route at Kaligandaki near Marpha.
  • 8Trek to Dovan 2,600m - 06 hours. Morning leaving farm fields of Bagar village, walk into cool forest for an hour and then a steep climb towards forested ridge of bamboo, oaks and rhododendron trees, looking down at Mygdi River, after ending the climb downhill into dense forest of pines and rhododendron to reach at Dovan for overnight camp by river, Dovan a small temporary place with small teahouse in the midst of a forest surrounding.
  • 9Trek to Chartare / Bhainsi Kharka 3,000m -05 hrsFrom Dovan morning walk leads to cross an unstable wooden bridge over a river confluence of Mygdi River, after crossing back into woodlands for whole day, walking on winding forest path till Chartare also known as Bhainse Kharka, as this area a grazing place for animals.
  • 10Trek to Pakhaban 3,750 m - 05 hrs. After a pleasant stop in the middle of forest, morning walk leads closer towards Mt. Dhaulagiri South Face flank, with views of Putha Huinchuli, Manapathi and of Dhaulgiri south flank, after 3 hours walk reaching a glaciated area named as Italian camp, from here leaving the forested and tree lines behind for few days, and then t adventure begins walking on glacier and moraine ,rocky ridge to reach a small grassy spot known as Pakhaban and as well called as Japanese camp, as Japanese expeditions to Dhaulagiri camped on this spot. This camping offers grand view of Dhaulagiri South West face with rear huge wall face of Tsaurabong Peak.
  • 11Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp 4,750 m - 06 hrs. From this camp heading between huge bulk of mountains and deep gorge down below where glacier feds source of Mygdi River, walk continues following moraine and iceberg in few places, climb towards base camp requires a team work to find the right good path on this glaciated sections, after a strenuous walk off the glacier area to reach a rocky place and then at Dhaulagiri base camp for overnight, one of the highlight of this adventure. Camping is pitched on rocky area in the shade of Mt. Dhaulagiri I (8,167 m) and its glacier including Tukuche peak with west peaks of Dhaulagiri II (7,751 m.), Dhaulagiri III (7,715 m.) and Dhaulagiri IV (7,618 m.).
  • 12At base camp free day for acclimatization and rest.A full rest day for acclimatization and short hike around in this magnificent surrounding within amphitheatre of snow-peaks that extends towards Tukuche peaks, a massive world 7th highest mountain at the height of 8,167 m high with rocks and ice, here with time to relax and marvel the views and saving your energy for next day climb to Advance Camp.
  • 13At base camp preparation for the climb to world 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri .Another full day for rest and preparation for the climb, on this day busy sorting out high altitude foods and gears with time to relax and plan for the adventure on top Mt. Dhaulagiri.
  • 14Climb to Advance Camp 5,600 m.Walk leads with descent towards Dhaulagiri glacier for a while over rumble of moraine rocks with slow climb to get near Dhaulagiri icefall, and then scouting the area to pitch Advance Camp on a safe sheltered spot free from the danger of avalanche and rocks fall. from base camp walk cross a high plateau and then skirt around a ridge of lateral moraine heading towards at the foot of Mt. Dhaulagiri, then after few hours of good walk taking a steep climb to reach high areas where a suitable camp site to set the Advance Camp.
  • 15Ascent to Dhaulagiri within 15 days climb and preparations.We have set and planned 15 days for the summit bid includes preparations carrying camping and climbing load to higher designated camps. From Advance Camp minimum 2 or 3 camps required, as the North West Route is the most accessible way to the summit than any other route on this world’s seventh highest Mountain. from ABC with final preparation to Dhaulagiri summit after much preparation, where our expedition leader will control the daily routine of the expedition, normally establish camp I, at above 5,350 meters and camp II, at above 6,800 m before returning to Advance Base Camp for rest and final bid to the summit top.
    From Advance Base Camp walk and climb through moraine covered glacier with climb and to Camp I at 5,350 meters, after climbing on boulders of rocks and ice with scree slope to reach the required Camp I.
    The camp is located on a broad snow field at the foot of the ridge leading up to a serac barrier with few technical sections on route. at about 7,200 meters the ridge is a line of ice cliffs here fixing ropes and snow bars. Normally we will have one rope for the ascent and another for descent on this pitch, which is about 80 meters high. This is the toughest part of the climb but with less difficulty, high above the serac climb out onto a plateau cut by huge crevasses, a winding path between to pitch Camp II at about 6, 800 meters. Above Camp II broad snow slopes lead more easily to Camp III at 7,200 meters. This is the highest camp and make the summit bid from here. Summit day as always involves an early start. Depending on snow conditions might encounter some easy scrambling as the climb gets in progress making way up and across the low angled North Face. The top of the summit a small plateau offering views of Annapurna-Mustang Himal with adjoining peaks of Dhaulagiri range with Lamjung and Manaslu towards eastern horizon. After a successful climb feeling high on top of the world, and then head back to ABC depending upon fitness of the members on descend after a vigorous
  • 16Back to Base Camp.After huge success taking maximum of two days to reach base camp with long descends where we need to clear and clean above camps, on these two days all the climbing members and staffs should be at the Base Camp for return journey and packing.
  • 17Clean up and packing end of expeditions.At base camp with final packing and checking each members health, necessary spare day to clean up the Base Camp and leaving nothing except your foot prints and memory.
  • 18Trek to Hidden Valley 4,900m via French Pass 5,360m .Morning walk heading highest point of the trek at French pass of above 5,360 m high, walk follows on dry glacier with moraines close to Tukuche peak and then heading higher to the top ridge of French Pass which is festooned with Buddhist prayer flags, after enjoying the surrounding views a short downhill walk of few hours reaches to a wide grassy area at hidden valley for overnight camping. This camp offers awesome views of Sita Chuchura, Mukut Himal, and Tashi Kang 5,386 meters, Tukche Peak and Dhaulagiri I.
  • 19Trek to Yak Kharka 4,915m via Thapa pass 5,250 m - 05 hrs. After a nice rest at Hidden Valley morning a leisure and gradual walk for few hours and then reaching the last pass of this marvelous adventure at Thapa also known as Dhampus pass at 5,250 meters, on reaching the top views of Annapurna Himal with Nilgiris peak towards north east horizon, after enjoying the scenery heading down towards Yak Kharka for overnight camp and back to vegetation of Juniper, Burberry and rhododendron bushes
  • 20Trek to Marpha 2, 670 - 04 hours .From this peaceful spot with grand views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range of peaks heading into woodland with a big drop of 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, where our pleasant walk leads Mustang area within Kaligandaki River valley. after a long descend reaching at Marpha, one of the most charming villages with white painted houses and neat paved streets, well kept lodges. At Marpha celebrate with local apple products cider, brandy and juice this area from Kagbeni to Larjung is famous for delicious apples.
  • 21 Morning drive to Jomsom airport and fly to Pokhara .Morning after a good rest and overnight at lovely Marpha villages, a short leads you at Jomsom the headquarter town of Mustang district, where 22 mins flight brings you at scenic Pokhara by the Phewa Lake. In Pokhara relax and enjoy the views of Annapurna Himalaya or take a short tour of Pokhara at place of great interest.
  • 22From Pokhara drive / fly back to Kathmandu .Early morning drive back to Kathmandu during six hours of interesting drive overlooking views of Annapurna-Machhapuchare Himal with Lamjung and Manaslu mountain range, as the drive progress on good busy highway reaching at Kathmandu. In Kathmandu rest of the afternoon free for individual activities after memorable adventure on Mt. Dhaulagiri Expeditions.

  • 23In Kathmandu rest and to submit reports of the climb.We have reserved an extra two days at Kathmandu, in case of flight delay on climb and trail conditions due to bad weathers, and on this day where our leader and guide will submit actual reports of the climb on Mt. Dhaulagiri Expeditions, on this days one can book for another tours in and around Kathmandu valley.
  • 24International Departure for Homeward bound.As per your international flight time transfer towards Tribhuvan International Airport for the journey back home or to respective destinations after a super and amazing time in Nepal Himalaya on Mt. Dhaulagiri Expeditions.
