The distance between Kathmandu and Beni is about 297 kilometers and the road are blacktopped. The view on the road is scenic as it passes through several rivers and towns.

  • 3Drive from Beni (899 M) to Darbang (1,110 M) Duration 5 - 6 Hours.After breakfast, we will get a four-wheel local jeep and drive to Darbang village. The road is bumpy and it is completely off-road. However, the scenery of terraced farmlands and hilly villages makes this extremely bumpy jeep ride an adventurous experience.

  • 4Trek from Darbang (1,110 M) to Jugepani (1,500 M) Duration 7 - 8 Hours.Today is the first day of hiking. We will embark on this strenuous journey to the base camp of the world’s 7th tallest mountain, Mt. Dhaulagiri. Please heed the instructions of the trekking guide and don’t trek further than any of the trekking crew members. We will trek through terraced farmlands and lush green forests to Jugepani.

  • 5Trek from Jugepani (1,500 M) to Boghara (2,414 M) Duration 7 - 8 Hours.We start our day by ascending to the ridge and then descending to Juge Pani, where we stop for a lunch break. After lunch we ascend along a steep trail and then find ourselves high above the valley. The trail follows along a cliff edge and after about an hour, we reach Boghara Village, where we camp for the night.

  • 6Trek from Boghara (2,414 M) to Dobang (2,520 M) Duration 7 - 8 Hours.The trail today begins as we head through cultivated fields while ascending to the ridge. The trail becomes a little less tiring and then we reach Lipshe Village, where we stop for lunch. We then trek through dense forest for about two to three hours until we reach Dobang Village, where we camp for the night.

  • 7Trek from Dobang (2,520 M) to Shallaghari Khorla Camp (3,445 M) Duration 5 - 6 Hours.We will walk for about 5 to 6 hours on this day through lush green forests and grassy meadows. There are many grazing fields on this day’s trek. We will have to cross several streams and follow the herder’s trail most of the time.

  • 8Trek from Shallaghari Khorla Camp (3,445 M) to Italian Base Camp (3,660 M) Duration 5 - 6 Hours.Today we need to remain focused, as the trail is less defined and you will need to watch your balance, as some of the trails can be dangerous. We follow the wild Myagdi Khola (river), stepping over logs and using our limbs to scramble up the more uneven areas of the track. We then ascend through bamboo and other untouched forests. Along the trail you may see langur monkeys scrambling about the treetops. After another three to four hours on the trail, we reach Dobhan and then Sallaghari, where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we continue to climb up through prickly Aeglea brush (broom brush). Two to three hours later we finally reach Italy Base Camp, previously used by Italian explorers prior to the ascent of Dhaulagiri. Tonight, we camp at Italy Base Camp.

  • 9Trek from Italian Base Camp (3,660 M) to Japanese Base Camp (4,300 M) Duration 5 - 6 Hours.Today is a short trek of four to five hours before we reach Japanese Base Camp. Along the trail, after leaving Italy Base Camp, you will pass several memorials of climbers who perished while attempting to climb Dhaulagiri, which includes three Chinese climbers who died in 2010. Previous trekkers have left a fixed rope, making the descent less risky. We then cross the moraine to the Japanese Base Camp, where there is a single hut. We set up camp here for the night.

  • 10Acclimatization in Japanese Base CampThe overnight places beyond this place are above 4500 m in height. Therefore, we must perform acclimatization activities. We will ascend 300 m to 400 m in a nearby trekking trail and again return back to the Japanese Base Camp to stay overnight. This will help us to spend overnight in Dhaulagiri Base Camp and Hidden Valley during the trek. We must not skip this acclimatization rest day.

  • 11Trek from Japanese Base Camp (4,300 M) to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,740 M) Duration 7 - 8 Hours.Finally, after 7 to 8 hours of trekking from Japanese Base Camp, we will reach the foothill of the world’s 7th tallest mountain, Mt. Dhaulagiri. The trail is through moraines and cliff edges. However, the charm of being at the foothill of the mountain will help us walk on this trail. The view of mountains and the overnight staying place is located in a surreal place surrounded by mountains on all sides. It is truly a remarkable experience to gather!

While trekking to Hidden Valley from Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we will have to cross the 5360 m French Col. Pass on the way. Therefore, it is tiring yet the most captivating trekking experience to collect. We will be staying overnight at 5100 m altitude. You will be taken to a hotel in Lakeside. After checking in to the hotel, you can rest for a bit and head out to explore the beautiful lake city of Pokhara or enjoy a few drinks with live music at a lakeside restaurant.

  • 17Drive from Pokhara (822 M) to Kathmandu (1,324 M) and Transfer to Hotel Drive Duration: 7 - 8 Hours.We will drive back to Kathmandu. By tourist bus, it takes 7 to 8 hours to get to Kathmandu; if you want to get back to Kathmandu by tourist bus, it's better to leave in the early morning after breakfast. Usually, all tourist buses leave at 7:00 am from Pokhara and will stop along the way for lunch and breakfast as well. It would be a long drive, but you can see the beautiful multi-scenes throughout the drive.
